The most exciting time of all is when you are packing up the gears for the trip. It's been a while since I had a time to travel, so I was double excited.
It was an overnight family trip and also my own time off from everything normal. I needed everything.
So here are the list of things I've packed;
Fujifilm X-T1 Fujifilm X-Pro1 Fujifilm X100s Fujifilm XF 10-24mm f4 Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f2.8-4 Fujifilm XF 55-200mm f3.5-4.8 Sirui T-1205x tripod Pelican 0915 memory card case with 10 x 16GB memory cards And Fujifilm Instax Mini for my wife
Everything was nicely packed with a little room to spare in my National Geographic's Africa medium rucksack.
Initially, I wanted to only take X-T1 as a main and X100s as a backup/family snaps. But I ended up taking X-Pro1 also because it was the only camera with tripod plate. I was going to take some nightsky photos so I took 10-24mm and 55-200mm for some telephoto landscapes. (I love telephoto landscape). And 18-55mm for general snaps. My main lens was 55-200 for X-T1 and 10-24 for X-Pro1. X-Pro1 was only out of the bag for nightsky photos and X-T1 for daytime landscape. I currently don't have filters so X-T1 photos were all handheld. All the time, I had X100s around me. It was tiny and ultra quiet. It was brilliant to take family snaps, especially my 5 month old boy.
My trusty Sirui tripod was with me for quite a while now. It wasn't all that strong when I was using DSLR but now since I've moved on to mirrorless, it's as sturdy as any other heavy tripods. Now I love my travel tripod even more.
I've taken almost 10 sd cards all 16gb, that's 160gb in total! I was only wishing that I would go as far as using maybe half of the cards I've taken. But in reality, the baby cried all the time whenever we went out and only time I had by myself was at late night just an hour before the moon was about to come up. I barely got about 20gb of photos, with about half of them being my family. No regrets though. Now I will have a few more good photos of us on the wall..!
Instax mini was my gift to my wife for a special occasion. We ended up taking 1 photo. We basically didn't have time to even take it out from the bag, taking care of the baby.
Then we also had our phones, iPhone and Galaxy Note 3. Both have brilliant cameras. We've taken about 100 photos with our phones, too. I've only just downloaded all the photos and started post-processing them.
Yeah, the trip is just over but my heart is still out there. I'm already thinking about our next trip. Where and when that may be.
